Nursing Council Exam

Nursing Council Exam

Candidates are eligible to sit the Council’s written examination once specific criteria are met. The candidate must:

  • Submit certification and/or a degree from an approved training institution which provides proof that necessary requirements and pre-requisites have been met.
  • Satisfy the Council that the prescribed clinical hours have been met.
  • Submit a completed examination form.
  • Provide payment of the prescribed fee.
  • Provide proof of good character.
  • Be capable of reading, writing, speaking and understanding fluent English.
  • Show proof of success in the four clinical assessment areas:
    • Drug/Medication Administration
    • Aseptic Technique for wound care
    • Nursing Careplan
    • Nursing Management

The Council’s written examination must be taken within eighteen (18) months of completing training from an approved institution. Failure to do so will result in the candidate repeating the last year of the training programme before being eligible to sit the Council exam.

Examinations, in accordance with the Act, are held twice per year. Typically, these examinations are offered in May and November annually.
